Intentional Immigration Ignorance from the Left, Part One [Video]

Border WallI must admit rarely visit Twitter these days except to post. I prefer sites with less censorship of conservative views in particular.

However, my account lives and I monitor it occasionally to keep tabs on friends and foes alike. I think of it as using the enemy to better know the enemy.

A particular post caught my attention recently dealing with the subject of the fight over a border wall on America’s southern border. The poster asked why President Trump had not fought this hard for a wall in the first two years of his presidency when there was a Republican majority in both houses of Congress.

The question was a good one and a thoughtful and honest crack at an answer was warranted. The responses on Twitter provided not one example of that.

Abysmal Ignorance on Display

Illegal ImmigrationInstead, the vast majority of around 100 responses I read were of two types. One was to say that Trump waited because somehow Putin told him to wait.

That response is ridiculous on its face. As should be evident by now, continuing to insist on the ‘Russian collusion’ factless fantasy is ignorance personified.

However, the other type of response reveals a level of ignorance so high as to defy belief. That was to insist that ‘walls don’t work,’ or words to that effect.

It seems superfluous to refute the assertion that ‘walls don’t work.’ After all, the people who keep saying this know better if they but channel their life experience.

We all live with the reality of walls either keeping us in or keeping us out of various places. We conduct our affairs recognizing that some kind of physical barrier might be in the place where we live, work or play.

The real experts on the border know that physical barriers do work. Here is one expert, the former Chief of the Border Patrol under President Obama talking about it.

Perhaps a look at some basic definitions will be helpful since the Left has also been ridiculing the president because he has favored a steel barrier which can be seen through instead of a concrete wall. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary has a number of definitions for the word “wall.”

Among the plethora of definitions is the following:

6 : something resembling a wall (as in appearance, function, or effect) especially : something that acts as a barrier or defense

Since ‘something that acts as a barrier or defense’ is an official definition for a wall, the structure that President Trump is promoting can reasonably be called a wall. The nitpicking Left has once again engaged in diverting the conversation from the real issue, and intentionally or not, spreading more ignorance.

Is This Ignorance Intentional?

Illegal ImmigrationThere are two basic conclusions that one could come to when asking this question. One is that Leftist declarations about immigration are sincerely ignorant expressions from those who don’t know any better.

If that is the case then one could optimistically say what my mother used to say when I was a child complaining about harsh treatment from another. She would smile and say, “If they knew better, they’d do better.”

While I don’t think that is necessarily true, I have inherited enough from my awesome mother to remain somewhat hopeful. Conversely, what is the other conclusion to be reached here?

If these Leftist ramblings are not simply ignorant, then they are displaying nonsense intentionally. Which also means that these are tactics with malevolent motives.

To be fair it should be noted that the everyday person on the street who identifies as a liberal or progressive is enormously uninformed on a number of political subjects. While this is negligent behavior, it doesn’t necessarily signal an evil intention.

The same should not be said about the Leftmedia and the political leaders of the Left. One, in particular, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi [D. CA] made a particularly ignorant statement recently when she claimed that walls “are immoral.”

An inanimate object can only represent a moral or immoral principle. Therefore, the real question then is whether or not building a wall on America’s southern border has either a moral or an immoral motive behind it.

Building the Wall Is Moral

Inset. order for an object to represent a moral motive that object must direct attention toward an action that is essentially good. It can be good because it promotes a positive result or stops a negative one.

In the case of building a border wall, this action is good in both of these ways. It is a positive good because it promotes the national sovereignty of the United States.

A physical barrier establishes the existence of a national border beyond just lines on a map. Moreover, a wall also helps protect American citizens from being overwhelmed with the negatives that swarms of illegal aliens bring with them.

That brings the discussion toward the moral action of stopping the invasion from the south. The Left is adept at denying all the negative effects of such an invasion, including one in particular that they don’t like to talk about.

The one absolutely destructive result the Left tries to keep on ‘the down-low’ is the legitimizing giving illegal aliens the right to vote. The first step toward that goal has already been taken in the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives which recently passed a bill allowing non-citizens to vote.

The border wall represents a moral good both in a positive purpose and by helping to prevent the harm of an invasion of illegal aliens. However, to truly accomplish strong border security and enforcement, a wall is not enough.

Much more will have to be done to truly avert a potential catastrophe in America, and it will have to be done soon. That is what we will examine in part two, so stay tuned folks.

Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. …But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
