The U.S. 2020 election is mere days from today. For those of you who have followed this journal, it is no surprise that I support the re-election of President Trump for a second term.
Though I cannot claim to speak for all the President’s supporters, I believe that most of us have similar reasons for lending him our favor this election. There are, in fact, a large number of reasons that anyone could cite for voting for President Trump this election.
It might be his trade policy which has put American interests at the forefront as no president has done in my lifetime. Perhaps it is his foreign policy which has been uniformly tough on our enemies and magnanimous to our friends around the world.
It could be the President’s pro-life stance and policies, or his strong support of religious freedom during his first term. Of course, there is the incredible strength and growth of the American economy to unprecedented levels in the first three and a half years of his first term, and the amazing economic rebound we have seen since the advent of the pandemic panic crashed the economy because of the baseless extended lockdowns of various states.
With all of that in consideration, here are seven specific reasons that President Trump should be re-elected in 2020.
Seven: His work ethic as President is unsurpassed
The time and effort this President puts into his task as leader of the free world are phenomenal. President Trump is 74 years old and has enough energy to exhaust the energizer bunny!
A great example of his boundless drive for the nation is rendered by examining the 2020 Trump campaign rallies. On October 12, 2020, the President returned to the campaign trail after having recovered from COVID-19.
Within the space of just over two weeks, from October 12th to the 28th President Trump held rallies in 13 states. Moreover, he conducted multiple rallies within most of those states including Florida, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and North Carolina.
The President also held multiple rallies almost every day in that time. In fact, his campaign schedule included 3 or more rallies per day for most of those days.
This kind of speaking schedule would exhaust just about anyone who was 40 years younger than President Trump! I have viewed about a dozen of these rallies online and it is amazing to see the stamina, drive, and energy and optimism he brings to mammoth crowds in every case.
Yet during the hectic months of campaigning he has continued to work hard and accomplish much, including help bring peace to the Middle East. More about that in a bit.
Six: President Trump delivers what he promises
President Trump is the best president at delivering on what he has promised in my lifetime, including Ronald Reagan. He deserves to be re-elected for that achievement alone.
As was the case with President Reagan, that is one reason I happily vote for Donald J. Trump to be re-elected. Michael Goodwin of the NY Post is correct when he writes,
Trump’s most admirable trait is that he has kept his key promises. That is remarkable only because voters have too long tolerated politicians who sell one thing and deliver another.
Some of the forgotten promises this president has kept include his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, along with moving the U.S. Embassy there; delivered cuts in taxes and burdensome regulations which in turn delivered unprecedented economic prosperity across all income classes and racial groups; and rebuilt a depleted American military to regain the status of the most powerful on the planet.
It is noteworthy that at the President’s campaign rallies there are signs which read, “Promises made, promises kept.” If anyone deserves to wave that sign, it is President Trump.
Five: He is a not the corrupt and incompetent Joe Biden
This reason is not simply a plea for ‘anybody but Biden,’ in 2020. Joe Biden has proved to be perhaps a more corrupt presidential candidate than Hillary Clinton was, if that’s even possible.
The recent revelations of former Hunter Biden associate Tony Bobulinski and the documented evidence recently confirmed as authentic by the U.S. Senate which backs up his claims have earned Joe Biden the mantle of a family crime boss. Bobulinski told Tucker Carlson in a recent interview details of deals made with the Chinese Communists that made Joe millions.
This amounts to nothing less than selling CCP access to a sitting American Vice President. It certainly poses a grave threat to national security, as this journal has noted in the past, and it definitely disqualifies Biden from running for president.
Contrast this with the obvious pride and patriotism displayed by President Trump and the fact that despite the best efforts of the insane Left for 4 years, they haven’t found a single corrupt act committed by this President. This President merits a second term for that reason alone.
Four: This President is a peacemaker
One of the most unfortunate consequences of the pandemic panic has been that it has obscured the incredible foreign policy achievements of the Trump administration. Especially the tremendous strides that have been made toward peace in the Middle East.
When President Trump kept his promise to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem, he ushered in a new era that is revolutionizing Middle East politics and national relationships. The actions that followed have now earned the President three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
However, it has been by the keeping of other promises that this President began his quest to be a peacemaker, the promises to keep America out of any new wars and to bring the troops home. President Trump is the first President since 1972 to accomplish that feat.
This President has also overseen new peace agreements between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, and just a week ago, Sudan was added to the list.
“This move will improve regional security and unlock new opportunities for the people of Sudan, Israel, the Middle East, and Africa,” the joint statement released by the White House said. Trump granted Sudan’s removal from the terrorism list after the nation paid “$335 million to compensate American victims of past terror attacks and their families.” Removal from the list now allows the country to access “international loans and aid.” …“This is one of the great days in the history of Sudan,” Trump said, noting that Israel and Sudan have been in a state of war for decades. In addition to normalizing relations and ending “belligerence between their nations,” Israel and Sudan have also agreed to begin trade and cooperation negotiations with each other and will work together on advancing “peace in the region.”
It is impossible to overstate the significance of this accomplishment. Since these kinds of steps toward peace have been a stated goal of U.S. presidents since Israel became a nation in 1948, it is worth asking just how did this president manage it when everyone else has failed.
Two key actions by President Trump made these monumental peace agreements possible. First, because of Trump policies, America became energy independent releasing us from the shackles of dependence upon foreign nations for our oil.
Second, the President did something astounding and completely against the ‘conventional wisdom’ of foreign policy ‘experts’ on the Middle East. He simply bypassed the Palestinians when they refused to negotiate a peace in good faith with Israel and has effectively rendered the Palestinians irrelevant on the world stage!
Three: This President is strong on Law and Order
There are two primary ways in which President Trump has shown himself to be a strong advocate of law and order during his first term. The first of these is his policies to strengthen border security and enforcement of the law against illegal aliens who try to break into America.
Of course, this brings into the discussion the most famous of the President’s campaign promises, to build a wall on the southern border of America that substantially reduces the entry of illegal aliens into the country. Despite the deranged Left’s attempts to stop this through the courts and with protests and the media screeching against it, President Trump proudly states at every rally that over 400 miles of the border wall has been completed.
The second way President Trump has demonstrated his commitment to law and order is how he has handled the BLM/Antifa rioting that has decimated many large cities in recent months. He has been true to both the spirit and letter of the law while trying to restore order in those Leftist Democrat controlled havens of anarchy.
He has done so by adhering to the principle of federalism with his stance toward state sovereignty by offering aid and only rendering it to besieged locales if the state and local authorities allowed it. When that happened, the violent riots and looting were quickly halted.
Order was restored by the application of lawful force, as should be the case, showing that President Trump is the law and order president. Thus only Portland, Oregon remains under such threat of violence because the mayor and governor have refused to enforce the law themselves and refused the help offered by President Trump.
This, in addition to the President’s solid support of law enforcement, has not escaped the attention of the major law enforcement organizations throughout America. All of them have endorsed President Trump for re-election.
Two: He is a staunch defender of the First and Second Amendments
The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, aka the Bill of Rights, is the greatest statement guaranteeing the rights of the individual in human history. The first and second of these are of primary importance to every American citizen.
The First Amendment makes possible the exercise of five critical individual freedoms and the Second gives individuals the means to defend those freedoms from other individuals and possibly from a tyrannical state.
President Trump has been a strong and staunch defender of both the First and Second Amendments throughout his first term. An example of defending the Second is the President refusing to demonize gun manufacturers or owners as the Leftmedia and Dems did after any mass shootings.
Additionally, he never joined the Left, as former President Obama did, in calling for the abolishment of the National Rifle Association whenever an insane Leftist furor ensued over a mass shooting. Instead, President Trump has pledged to respect and defend the Second from the time he entered office and he has done so.
The President has also defended the First Amendment, particularly religious freedom, with great vigor during his first term. One overlooked example of this came early in 2017 when President Trump signed a Presidential Executive Order Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty.
One of the most important provisions of that order deals with freedom of political speech within the church.
In particular, the Secretary of the Treasury shall ensure, to the extent permitted by law, that the Department of the Treasury does not take any adverse action against any individual, house of worship, or other religious organization on the basis that such individual or organization speaks or has spoken about moral or political issues from a religious perspective
The Treasury Department oversees the Internal Revenue Service. Specifically, this portion of the order prohibits the IRS from yanking the tax-exempt status of churches or other religious organizations for speaking on political issues from a religious and moral standpoint.
There are a multitude of similar examples from the Trump administration. Here are some additional ones from an excellent piece in The Baptist Standard.
the president signed an executive order establishing the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative to provide recommendations on the administration’s policy agenda as it affects faith-based communities. This initiative will guarantee faith-based community organizations and programs have a voice in the White House, enlisting their help to formulate policy recommendations that will further secure religious liberty in this country. This isn’t just a matter of principle; it’s also practical public policy. Faith-based organizations and initiatives play an important role in alleviating poverty, feeding the homeless and performing other vital services for communities across the United States. The Trump administration also finalized a rule granting more flexibility for federal employees whose religious beliefs require them to abstain from work on certain days.
One: President Trump is the greatest pro-life president ever
Much of the support for then-candidate Trump in 2016 from Christians hinged on his repeated promises to be a pro-life President. He has actually become the single most pro-life President in our history.
This fact is detailed in an excellent piece by Breitbart writer Dr. Susan Berry. She lists twelve “Groundbreaking Pro-Life Accomplishments of President Trump” in the article.
Here are these 12 as she listed them, minus all the details she enumerates.
Ended funding of groups that perform and promote abortion overseas
Appointed pro-life judges
Signed a resolution that allows states to end Planned Parenthood’s family planning funding
Defunded the pro-abortion United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
Required health insurance companies to reveal plans that cover abortion.
New rules regarding HHS contraceptive mandate
New Office for Conscience Protection at HHS
Established that abortion is not family planning
Ending taxpayer-funded research using bodies of aborted babies
Clarified abortion is not a civil right
Became the first president to appear in person to address the March for Life
Signed executive order protecting infants born alive
This is much more than any other president has accomplished for the pro-life community. However, by way of explanation, here are some details regarding accomplishments 6,7,8, and 10.
Number 6 refers to the Trump administration’s new rules,
that provided protection from the HHS contraceptive mandate for both religious objectors, such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, and moral objectors, such as pro-life organizations. The new rule also exempted private employers and educational institutions that have sincerely held religious beliefs or moral objections against providing contraceptives or abortifacient drugs.
Accomplishment number 7 follows a similar tack with the creation of a new entity in 2018.
the Trump HHS established the Conscience and Religious Freedom division of the Office for Civil Rights, which works to protect health care providers who do not wish to participate in abortions from discrimination.
Number 8 has to do with restricting Title X federal funds formerly granted to Planned Parenthood. This cost PP, the largest abortion provider in America, some 60 million dollars of taxpayer money.
Number 10 is the reversal of an Obama administration rule that in effect could require hospitals and other healthcare entities to provide abortion services if they receive federal money. Abortion availability was considered a civil right by Obama as a motive for the rule, and President Trump put a stop to this heinous practice.
The highlight of these accomplishments is President Trump’s attendance and address at the National March for Life on January 24, 2020. He became the first president to ever do this, and his remarks there are evidence of his emphatic pro-life stance.
“It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March for Life,” Trump told the crowd in Washington. “Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House. … Every life brings love into this world. Every child brings joy to a family. Every person is worth protecting.”
President Trump has shown himself to be the most pro-life president in our history and that is the number one reason to re-elect this President in 2020. I pray that America makes the right choice for 2020, the choice for President Donald J. Trump.
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live Deuteronomy 30:19 [ESV]
